It seems a wishlist.  Well, I do not know if it is still relevant 4
years later.  If yes, how to make it happen?

Is this bug report a reminder?  What could the next actionable step to
tackle it?

Otherwise, I am in favor to close it, or at least mark it as wishlist.

Indeed, I’ve made it a wishlist.

Back then it looked like it could be useful but apparently few people
miss that functionality.
